What do we require from a volunteer?

Your first question as a volunteer is often how and what can I help? Our projects span a whole range of areas from wildlife management to community based projects. We are happy to advise you on which project would be most suitable for you.

The only thing we require from a volunteer is a flexible open mind and a willingness and enthusiasm for African Natural heritage and culture. If this sounds like it might be you then call or email us anytime!

Where does the project fee go?

The project fees go towards two main areas. Your accommodation, meals and staffing costs while in Botswana and to help fund the projects you will be implementing and assisting while in Botswana.

Can I contact my friends and family while in Botswana?

Botswana remains a very remote part of Africa and communications can often be difficult, especially when in the bush. However, there are areas in towns and villages where internet and mobile phones can be accessed and we appreciate that keeping in contact with home is very important.

Is it safe?

Yes, we believe our projects are the safest available to the gap year traveller. Botswana is a safe and prosperous democratic country with a low crime rate and the projects you are attending are well run by professionals and very safety conscious.

How do I apply?

If you wish to apply straight away please proceed to our apply now page and follow the instructions to apply online. To apply or enquire about one of our volunteer and conservation projects you can go to our contact us page.

From here you will be able to email one of Last Wilderness team or alternatively you are welcome to call us anytime. At this stage we will discuss which project you might like to participate in and we will offer to send you an information pack and booking form.

We ask for a small non refundable deposit to reserve your place (we will then send you a pre-departure pack) and then full payment is due eight weeks before departure. At this point you will receive a departure pack from us, you can begin saving and fundraising and look forward to the experience of a lifetime!
